How To Fix Outlook Error Code 0x80040119

When using Outlook 2002 or 2003, a common error is the Outlook Error Code 0x80040119. Your email won't send and you have no idea how or why this happened. Fear no longer. First, you need to find the cause before you jump ahead to the fix. The most probable culprits are an add-in that is marking items read if you view the Outbox. Another situation that could be causing the error code is not authenticating properly with the mail server. You should also check to make sure you have selected a default email account. If you are using a program that accesses the pst or ost data, such as MSN Desktop Search, you may receive this error. And lastly, your error could be appearing if an anti-spam or antivirus scanner is scanning outgoing mail and causing this error.

If you're receiving Outlook Error Code 0x80040119, the first thing you want to do is figure out if an add-in is marking items read. To test and see if this is indeed the problem, go and look in Tools, Options, Other, Advanced, Com add-ins. You should then disable the add-ins and re-enable them one at a time to test.

Another cause of Outlook Error Code 0x80040119 could be not authenticating with the mail server properly. If this is the case, you should take a look at your account settings. Go to tools, E-mail accounts, view or change existing accounts and then double click on the account and click more settings. You'll want to view your settings on the outgoing server tab. Likewise if the problem exists because no default email account is set, you simply need to verify that an account is set as default by going to tools, E-mail accounts, and view or change existing accounts.

Now, if the Outlook Error Code 0x80040119 is appearing because you're using a program that access the pst or ost data, you may be finding that the mail will send at first but then get hung up in the mail box. First, try and use the Microsoft  Outlook Inbox Repair tool, one of the built-in Microsoft tools that are  designed for such specific cases. However, keep in mind that the  Inbox Repair application does  not work in the case of .PST files  greater then 2GB of data. You may also find this repair tool under the name "scanpst" but they're one in the same.

Because the .PST file  related problems should be solved immediately in order to avoid  further possible  loss of data or permanent file corruption, a more professional  solution should be considered. One of the dedicated applications dealing with  .PST file problems is Stellar Outlook PST Repair. This  software is capable of  recovering lost .PST data and fixing some  of the most common problems, such as Outlook  error code 0x80040119.

Lastly, if an anti-spam or anti-virus scanner is scanning your outgoing mail, this error code could be appearing. Disable Email scanning in the software and see if that corrects the problem. You will also want to check your anti-spam or anti-virus program's website for updates or workarounds.
